DISCUSSION OF THE SCRIPTURE:
False doctrine–2 Peter 2:1-3a
Be aware that false teachers are often among us–2 Peter 2:1 (Acts 20:29-30).
Heresies are able to condemn souls–2 Peter 2:2
We must be aware that certain teachings/ideas are able to condemn our soul.
We must also make a distinction between teachings/ideas that will condemn our souls and things which are of no real significance.
We must learn to distinguish between “I do not like” and “God does not like”.
We must see that false teaching often comes about by individuals who are trying to take advantage of others–faith healers for example.
False teachers will find destruction–2 Peter 2:3b-9
The destruction awaiting false teachers will occur at God’s discretion–2 Peter 2:3b.
The fact of their destruction is seen by God’s past actions–2 Peter 2:4-6
God did not spare angels when they sinned against him.
God did not spare the rebels who heard Noah’s preaching.
God did not spare the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, and the plain in their sin.
However, God will rescue the righteous from the destruction which false teachers will receive–2 Peter 2:9
False teaching leads to wicked living–2 Peter 2:10-22
Bad theology leads to ungodly living. No theology leads to godless living.
False teaching leads to sinful pride–2 Peter 2:10-11
False teaching leads to further misunderstanding truth and reality–2 Peter 2:12.
False teaching leads to accepting and promoting sin–2 Peter 2:13-16
False teaching leads to hopeless living in vanity–2 Peter 2:17-19.
False teaching leads to increasingly worse conditions–2 Peter 2:20-22

Jesus accepts God’s plan for victory!
We must surrender in order to win!
All to Jesus I surrender, all to him I freely give; I will ever love and trust him, in his presence daily live. All to Jesus I surrender, humbly at his feet I bow, worldly pleasures all forsaken; take me, Jesus, take me now. All to to Jesus I surrender, Lord I give myself to thee; Fill me with thy love and power, let thy blessing fall on me. We know how difficult it is to get our children to take medicine they don’t want and how even more difficult it is to get older parents and family to take their medicine when they don’t want it. But we also know the only way for them to get well is to surrender to the medication.

LIFE APPLICATION FROM SCRIPTURE:
We can work together to bring souls to Christ.

DISCUSSION OF THE SCRIPTURE:
Opportunities are made–Acts 3:1-10.
Opportunities are made possible by places to assemble–Acts 3:1.
Authority to have church buildings is inherent in our command to assemble–Hebrews 10:25; Acts 2:42-47.
Church buildings are built:
to make worship expedient
to provide a place for church family activities
to provide a place for the community to find the church
to provide a place for larger crowds to hear the gospel in an environment conducive to worship and fellowship.
Opportunities are made possible by taking notice of hurting people–Acts 3:2-3.
John 4 shows us Jesus helping the woman at the well and the official’s son.
Luke 8:26-39 shows Jesus helping the demon possessed man.
Opportunities are made possible by doing what you are able to do–Acts 3:4-10.
“When each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Ephesians 4:16).

Gospel is preached–Acts 3:11-26
The Gospel was preached because there was an opportunity for preaching–Acts 3:11.
Gospel preaching turns minds and hearts to Jesus–Acts 3:12.
Gospel preaching focuses on the Gospel–Acts 3:13-15.
Gospel preaching focuses on what God is able to do–Acts 3:16.
Gospel preaching emphasizes God’s grace being extended–Acts 3:17-26.
