Jesus came to offer us the abundant life (John 10:10). The word Jesus used which is translated “abundant” has to do with things which are “extraordinary.” One of the greatest sermons ever preached begins by telling us how to be blessed (Matthew 5:3-12). This word usage is defined as “privileged recipient of divine faThis “happy” or “extraordinary” life begins by choosing the correct path. The Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament presents us with two options or paths of life—the way of the curse versus the way of the blessing. We may describe it as the way of the good life or the way to misery.

Psalm 1 describes this life choice.

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers:  But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That bringeth forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also doth not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For Jehovah knoweth the way of the righteous; But the way of the wicked shall perish”

So, which will we choose? To choose the way of blessing or the way of cursing, that is the question of life.

Jesus put the question before us in another way. He said, “Enter ye in by the narrow gate:for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).

The path you choose determines the destination you find. Which way will you go? Where will you find yourself?
